Annuity Payout Calculator formula
For end-of-period payments, payout = P × r ÷ [1 − (1 + r)⁻ⁿ], where P is principal, r is the periodic rate, and n is the number of payments. Beginning payments divide that result by 1 + r.
This is fixed-period account math. It is not a quote for a life annuity and does not use mortality, sex, state, product, rider, or insurer pricing.
Assumptions and limitations
- The entered annual rate is divided by the selected payment frequency and remains constant for the full term.
- Each payment is level and occurs at the selected beginning or end timing.
- The calculation excludes insurer expenses, commissions, surrender charges, market value adjustments, taxes, and inflation.
- No insurer guarantee, lifetime income, death benefit, or rider is represented.

Worked example
Example: $100,000 paid monthly for 10 years
A $100,000 balance earns a constant 6% annual rate and makes 120 end-of-month payments over 10 years.
The estimated monthly payout is about $1,110.21. The annual schedule shows interest earned, payments received, and the declining balance.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a lifetime annuity quote?
No. It calculates a fixed period from entered principal and interest. Lifetime quotes depend on insurer pricing, age, product, guarantees, riders, and other facts.
Why is a beginning-period payment smaller?
Each payment arrives one period earlier, so the same starting balance can support a slightly smaller level payment for the same number of payments.
Does the payout include taxes or insurer fees?
No. Taxes, fees, surrender charges, commissions, riders, and insurer contract terms are outside this mathematical estimate.
