Calculating Specific Impulse

Specific impulse (Isp) can be calculated using the formula:

In this formula, the parameters are defined as follows:

  • u: The exhaust velocity of the propellant, or the speed at which the gas exits the engine, measured in meters per second (m/s).
  • g: The acceleration due to gravity, typically taken as 9.8 m/s².
